The latest information on new Covid-19 cases was released on Thursday, July 2 and combines both pillar one and pillar two data.
This means that the figures are based on both testing in laboratories and in the wider community.

Hide AdThe data shows that Sunderland’s latest coronavirus rate – for the week ending Sunday, June 28 – stands at 1.8 cases per 100,000 of the city population.
This is no change from the figure for the previous week – as released on Wednesday, July 1 – which also stood at 1.8.
Out of 145 local authorities, Sunderland is at the lower end of the scale for case rates, sitting at 113th in the country.
Leicester, which was placed into a ‘local lockdown’ this week by the Government, comes at first position in the list.

Hide AdThe city’s most recent Covid-19 rate is 141.3 for the week ending June 28.
Middlesbrough and Hartlepool currently have the highest case rates per 100,000 people in the North East at 6.4 each. The local authorities are in 49th and 51st places respectively.
