1. Seaham Hall, East Durham
For afternoon tea in sumptuous surroundings head to Seaham Hall. You can choose from a traditional afternoon tea (£24), a Champagne afternoon tea (£34), a G&T afternoon tea (£32) and a cocktail afternoon tea (£32). 3. Let There Be Crumbs, Roker Hotel
Let There Be Crumbs is one of Sunderland's only dedicated tearooms and is great for larger groups. Its regular afternoon tea is £16.95 for one or £24.95 for two. You can choose to upgrade and add a glass of Prosecco or Poetic Licence gin, which is distilled next door. Photo: Stu Norton
4. Crook Hall, Durham City
One of the most charming locations in the region for afternoon tea, Crook Hall's versions are served in the Georgian dining room with views of the cathedral in the distance.
