Sunderland Good Samaritan who carried out CPR when friend fell ill wound up in court after cops found him in possession of illegal drugs
Clinton Ruddy, 36, was discovered with amphetamine in his bedroom in General Havelock Road on Tuesday, November 5.
Prosecutor Paul Anderson told South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court: “Police went to speak to him about another matter and in his bedroom they find a white substance.

Hide Ad“He accepts that it was for his own personal use, but wouldn’t say where it came from.”
Ian Martin, defending, said: “The defendant was with friends when someone fell ill. The defendant administered CPR.
“He’s a man with significant mental health issues and he has to take a cocktail of medicines, they are all strong tablets.
“He’s bridged the gap himself by using this substitute.”
He pleaded guilty to possessing a Class B drug and was handed a six-month conditional discharge.
