Man seriously injured in crash after car overturns outside Sunderland pub

Emergency services were called to Harbour View Road and Millum Terrace after a vehicle crashed into two parked cars near to The Wolsley pub at around 10.55am on April 1.
The male driver of the car has been taken to hospital with serious injuries, police have confirmed.

Hide AdThe two other passengers are not believed to have suffered any serious injuries, but one other person was also taken to Sunderland Royal Hospital by medics.
A cordon was put in place on the A183 Dame Dorothy Street – from Church Street North to Marine Walk – and it was closed following the incident but has since reopened.
Police inquiries into the circumstances of the collision are ongoing.
A Northumbria Police spokesman said following the collision: “At about 10.55am we received a report that a vehicle had overturned near to The Wolsley pub on Millum Terrace and collided with two parked cars.

"Two other occupants of the vehicle are not believed to have suffered any serious injuries.
"Enquiries into the circumstances around the collision are ongoing but no other vehicles are believed to have been involved.

Hide AdTyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that two engines and two officers from Sunderland Central Community Fire Station were called to the incident, arriving on scene at 11.03am.
The North East Ambulance Service said one of its patient transport vehicles stopped to assist at the scene and it then dispatched two ambulance crews, three crews from its Hazardous Area Response Team, a specialist paramedic and an officer.
It took two patients to Sunderland Royal Hospital.
