New club night for the Chambers' generation hailed a "huge success" as organiser plans "bigger and better" events
On Saturday, November 30, two original Chambers DJs and two new DJs appeared at The Manor Bar on Foyle Street in Sunderland as locals enjoyed a house and disco night out.
Michael Lane, 42, formed the idea. He spent his weekends from the 90s until around 2002 working in Sunderland bars and clubs, including Chambers, and wanted to those club nights to return that were enjoyed by many.

He said: “We had great feedback from the crowd on the night.
“We’re happy with the result. The bar holds around 200 people and it reached capacity by far. I don’t think the bar has ever been that busy before. It was a huge success.”
On the night, two Chambers DJs, Liam Carty and Michael himself, took to the decks with two new DJs, Luke Martin and Marty Chape.

As the first event took place, the norovirus meant that a few people couldn’t attend, so Friday, December 27 could be the chance to enjoy something similar.
Michael said: “This time we have a better sound system put in so she can perform. This is all trial and error until we get used to the venues.”
Friday, December 27 will be the final event of 2019 taking place at the same venue with free entry. DJs are to be announced but Cafe Mambo Resident Ryan McDermott is on the list and Liam Connor will be returning with Michael for their sets.

“When we move onto next year we’re going to get more budget and make the night bigger and better.”
