This included furnishing the building with a reception area and massage tables.
During consultation, no objections were raised by key council departments including transport and conservation.
In a consultation statement, the local authority’s conservation team noted that no internal or external works were planned.

“The submitted information is relatively brief in its contents but the applicant has stated that no internal or external works are taking place, with the previous use of a hair salon and this proposed use, as a massage parlour, likely meaning that alterations will not involve anything other than decoration
“However, should more invasive alterations such as stud walling, or joinery be needed the applicant should check if a listed building consent is required.”
Sunderland City Council’s planning department approved the application for the Chinese massage shop on Monday, September 27.
