Washington boxer Pat McCormack reaches quarter-finals at European Olympic qualifier
The 20-year-old clinched a unanimous points verdict over Denmark’s Enock Poulsen Mwandila in their round of 16 bout in Samsun this afternoon.
It was a straight-forward win for the number three seed who had a bye in the preliminary round.

Hide AdMcCormack, last year’s European Championship silver medallist, will box in the last eight on Wednesday afternoon.
The Birtley ABC fighter has made a superb start to 2016 and is one of the form men at light-welterweight.
There are three spots on offer for the Olympic Games in each of the men’s weight categories at this tournament.
It means McCormack must either reach the final in Samsun or be the semi-finalist who loses to the gold medal winner.
