Now that Halloween has been and gone, all eyes are on Bonfire night as families look forward to a weekend of firework displays.

Firework displays and bonfires will be happening across the region and families will be hoping the weather doesn’t dampen the mood.

Bonfire Night, also known as Guy Fawkes Night, falls on a Saturday this year, meaning any activities will likely take place across the weekend. Various events are expected to happen across Friday, November 4, and Saturday, November 5.

What is the weather forecast for Bonfire night weekend in Sunderland?

After yellow weather warnings at times throughout the week on Wearside, from Thursday onwards settled weather is expected which should continue throughout the weekend.

Clear skies throughout Friday, November 4, will result in cool temperatures heading into the first night of the weekend when some festivities get underway. Sunset is expected to begin at 4:22pm with temperatures expected to dip from 10°C to 8°C as night falls. This is expected to feel more like 6°C, however, with the lowest temperatures feeling like 4°C later in the night. Skies should be clear.

The evening of Saturday, November 5, may not be quite so favourable, with the Met Office predicting showers throughout the late afternoon and into the night. These could last from 3pm until 9pm, although temperatures are expected to remain slightly higher than the previous night with lows of 10°C which will feel closer to 7°C.

Clear and dry skies are expected to return for Sunday evening as the afternoon clouds should move away from Wearside, leaving minimal chances of rain and low temperatures of 9°C, which will feel more like 7°C.
